This week-

Monday: We had a super Pday with president and Hermana Glazier. They made us taco salad which is a luxury for us!

Tuesday: We invited Cristian to be baptized. And he said yes! (Oh! and little tidbit. Do you remember the Lopez family from my last area who were a miracle find for us? They got baptized and Cesar went through his surgery safely! So happy for themmm!)

Wednesday: We had a special dinner at the bishop´s house with the Fam Allala

Thursday: Experience with Xenia on the bus (see below)

Friday: An amazing zone conference that focused on teaching with love, contacting with the Spirit, and hastening the work by working with members.

Saturday: I had an interchange with my mamita Hermana Dumay the other day and it was interesting to talk about the things we have learned since we were last together, when i was a little greenie!

Sunday: Mothers Day! It was great to see everyone ayer. Lookin good family!
Mom, now that you cut your hair, you and Aunt Laura are undistinguishable. Both beauties!

Casey, youre baby is growing so fast! And I love his uglyface. Im not surprised youre already teaching him the art of ugly facemaking.

Dad, way to go already doing your hometeacher. I hope my converts become as pilas(legit) as you!

Speaking of prayers, I had an awesome experience last night! So, after the zone meeting, I put to test the promise that if we pray specifically, God will answer specifically. I had heard so many experiences of people coming up to the missionaries and asking them to visit their home. This  had never happened to me and I wondered, how great would that be to have someone truly NEED the gospel and for Heavenly Father to put them in our path. After 2 days of praying that someone would SPECIFICALLY aproach us, He answered. Last night as we were about to leave our area to head home, this young father and his wife and baby called us over. We dont usually answer to the "ch ch" sound cuz its almost always bad news, but as I turned around i saw this young man walking toward us with prisa. As he approached us, he straight said, "You visit people to share the gospel, right? Ive been reading pamphlets from a couple religions and im just confused. Could you come visit me to help explain? I want to do whats right, but I dont know which doctrine is the correct one." I was smiling from ear to ear as i happily answered, "Yes. We can help."

As well as yesterday, I was talking to a young woman on the bus on Thursday and as I asked about her family, she started to cry. I told her, I dont know what youre going through, but I know this can help, and I gave her A Plan of Salvation pamphlet. Before she even opened it, she started saying, Im just not happy in my life right now. I dont know what Im doing here, sometimes I wonder what my purpose in life is. Ive been wanting to go to a church lately. It was a Preach My Gospel moment! She said all the things I missionary would hope for. We practice often for these opportunities, but they rarely come. I felt the tender whisper of the Spirit guide my words as I testified to her of the Restored Gospel. It was an amazing moment for me on the mission.

Wow, I am blown away by the way God cares enough to help us know Hes there, guiding our steps, and bringing others to the truth. It was a beautiful moment of knowing God is here, he listens, and He gives us our righteous requests. The work is moving along. We shall see what the Lord has in store for us missionaries in the coming change on Wednesday. Im ready for anywhere, because I know He will be there with me.

Quizas es una cosa buena ir a un bautismo de otros misioneros en su distrito para dar apoyo.
Es mejor ir y tomar investigadores?
Seria aun mejor arreglar que los miembros toman sus investigadores para que ud pueda trabajar?

Es bueno llegar temprano para la reunion sacramental.
Es mejor llegar temprano con investigadores?
Es aun mejor llegar temprano con miembros y investigadores juntos.

Es bueno visitar a los miembros.
Es mejor visitarles y pedir referencias?
Es aun mejor visitarles muy breve, darles una pequenita leccion con gran espiritu, y pedirles referencias?

CUAN EFICAZ ESTAN CON EL CORTO TIEMPO QUE DIOS LES DA?
Tenemos que CORRER con nuestra CORAZON, MENTE, y PIES!
Mira a sus habitos como misionero. Donde estoy perdiendo tiempo precioso en cosas buenas, pero cosas que no apresuraran la obra en mi area, y no son eficaz? Siempre tendremos la tendencia de hacer las cosas mas faciles. Es facil ir a un noche de hogar o actividad y sentir que hice algo bueno. Pero, si no tome investigadores, realmente es mi mejor uso de tiempo?  Tenemos que mejorar y elevar nuestra vision. Tenemos que hacer las cosas MAS IMPORTANTES, que efectuaran un crecimiento en la obra, primero, y no malgastar mi tiempo en cosas que no son LO MEJOR para aumentar la obra de salvacion en mi area.

La Presidencia de Area dijo que uno de las problemas mas grandes con misioneros es que pierdan MUCHISIMO tiempo en cosas que no traeran resultados apresurados. Buscan, oren, evaluen como mejorar su propio uso del tiempo.

HAPPY SEMANA SANTA 4/21/14

This week was fun because everyone was celbrating Semana Santa. Meaning everyone went to the beach. no but all the catolicos and evangelicos did vigiles where they make little altars of christ. it was pretty i liked it. and those awesome pictures made of salt on the street

it was hermana canos birthday this week, we made piñatas of her from an invevtigator who makes them. pictures to come. i failed at hitting the piñata. they tricked me and told me it was on the other side of the court! bayuncos

this week we were going to visit an investigator named amparo and when we got to her house she was locked out. so hermana henrie being so tiny found a way to jump the wall and break in. then we shared a lesson about keeping the commandments..we thought that was funny

weve been finding alot of service opportunites this week. weve cleaned patios, raked leaves, we even helped a member clean plastic bags to recycle them. i know the Lord wants us to serve our fellow brothers and sisters in many ways. i invite you all to look for ways to serve someone everyday. it brings a new light to your life and helps put your problems on the backburner. its something that gives me great satisfaction. i know there are people out there who need our help, and our waiting for us. imagine returning to Heavenly Father one day, and telling him you served his children your whle life- in the end were really serving Him. I know hes grateful for every esfuerzo you make to find ways to show charity to others.

also, we have been reading the book of mormon like crazy! president glazier wants us to finish it before the new president comes to town (in July) so ive been 

reading like loco! he invited us to mark everytime it says christs name in it. i cant even tell you how much it has already strengthened my testimony to do this. if you need to strengthen your conversion in the gospel, read the book of mormon with a PURPOSE. it makes all the difference. pray to heavenhlt father to know what that prupose should be (faith, individual worth, love, repentance) and you will have a greater perpective of the gospel in your life

last of all, I am so grateful for the Easter season to remember the Lord and Savior, but there is so much more purpose and hope in my life, as I remember Him everyday. I am so grateful to be His servant in El Sakvador, and I will be his servant for the rest of my life. I have grown in my conversion of the gospel of jesus christ so much being here, and I know its true. I know Jesus Christ was resurrected and lives and that we will all be resurracted one day because of Him. There are so many blessings in the gospel, I dont know a better way to live me life. I know it, I live it, I love it!

Happy Monday! 4/14/14

How is your Monday going? I just had my last interview with my president because hes going home in June :( It was very spiritual, hes helped me alot in my mission and in my life. Hes a big bear and so loving but very strict, which is great because it taught me EXACT obedience, which is good because we ALL know that i needed that lesson haha. Especially you mom and dad. Sorry for all the struggles I gave you in life! I repent! Haha

Well then, I have some funny/awkward/spiritual stories for you this week!

So we left the other day with a member Osiris and she brought her 5 year old son Guillermo who is just a RIOT. He is the most hyperactive boy I have ever met. We were visiting an hermana who lives up on a hill and on the way down Guillermo was running it and we told him to stop cuz he was going to fall and he didnt listen. All of the sudden a creepy clown showed up at the end of the hill with his arms open to catch Guillermo. Little did we know that Guillermo had a traumatizing experience with clowns as a toddler and when he saw the clown he stopped in his tracks, turned around and booked it to his mom! It was the most random thing ever, we were dying of laughter! Guille learned his lesson that day to listen to his mom. So the moral of the story is LISTEN TO YOUR MOM AND DAD

I also had a traumatizing experience this week slash funny. We took a member out for the first time whos from another ward named Hno Galan. He was a returned missionary who served in Nicaragua. So when we got to the lesson and watched The Restoration with them, the dad came in and he is extreeemely Evangelical so he started contending with my sweet comp Hermana Henrie while she was in the middle of sharing her testimony. Then Hno Galan got up and stood right in front of Mario (the dad) and started contending with him. They were going at it for about 10 minutes. I tried to stop it but they just kept going. It was crazy awkward. I didnt feel the spirit at all, and I know thats the only way we can teach- by the Spirit Moral of this story CONTENTION DRIVES THE SPIRIT AWAY. DONT DO IT.

So we were fasting yesterday because our baptisms for the month fell and we were trying to figure out what to do. We have an eternal investigator named Celina whos the daughter of a recent convert and wants to be baptized but didnt want to break up with her encarceled boyfriend and keep the Law of Chastity soo...but yesterday she came up to us after church and said she wanted to be baptized and didnt have any problems with her bf now. It was so unexpected! A miracle that God sent us for faithful fasting. I invite you all to fast with more intention- I see miracles EVERY TIME I do it.

Jose also came to church for the first time! We found him not too long ago and he told us he went to church a few times like 20 years ago. We asked him if he wanted to keep coming and change his life for the better and he said yeah, the only challenge was "las mujeres" He explained to us how women have been a temptation for men since the fall of Adam. it was really awkward for us...

But oh my goodness it was such a beautiful Sunday! This ward is FULL of great faithful members. All the young men went to the temple Saturday morning and did baptisms and indexed and they all bore their testimonies about it. I feel very confident for the future of missionary work!

Also we work with another pair of sisters in the ward and one of their investigators went up to bear his testimony about how he was grateful for the missionaries who helped him change his life around and how he wanted to have an eternal family and everything- it was so sweet! We were so happy for them. 

There is an awesome national activity happening in April AND in May. In April were gonna clean a big river that goes through all of the country. And in May they are having a Family Week in all of Central America where all the members are going to invite families to a weeklong event at church. We are REALLY excited!

LOVING KINDNESS 4/7/14

Wow, what a weekend! 

First of all, thanks for your prayers! We didnt have cambios! Im still in Apopa with the best comp and ward I could ask for.

Second, I got your package! It was so legit, Case, thank you so much! I shared my goodies with the gringos (American missionaries) cuz we were in the "English room" and they were also very grateful.

General Conference was so wonderful! It was a weekend of miracles and blessings here in El Salvador. Hermana Henrie and I started our weekend fasting to have investigators at conference, and the moment we ended it, little by little we saw miracles occur. First, a new investigator Erika came to Session 1 on Saturday with a ward member, Melvin. He brought his friend to check it out and she loved it! She asked for the lessons after. Wow. Then our investigator Jose who never has time to come to church came on Saturday afternoon and said he would be returning on Sunday he liked it so much! Sunday morning an investigator named Ilsia came who we almost stopped visiting cuz she hasnt come to church and weve been with her for a couple months now. Between sessions on Sunday we took a mototaxi (theyre like adorable go kart taxis) to our area to try and find someone for the last session and we convinced Carlos to come, who said he didnt want to cuz he had "pena" in other words, felt too awkward but he ended up going and enjoyed it. We had investigators in every session come! 

The leaders council was perfect. My favroite talk was the prophets. We should show loving kindness to everyone- loved ones, acquaintances, and strangers. They are all Gods children and need some loving kindness!

What a great opportunity we have to serve the Lord in these latter days. I love hearing your great examples of member missionary work. For example, Brother Rodriquez is inviting alot of his friends and neighbors to hear the missionarys message. Great work, Brother R! 

I know that as you all strive to share loving kindness to your fellow brothers and sisters, you will feel Gods love fill your life!

DA CUCARACHA 3/31/14

This week was great, pretty normal. Unfortunately changes are this Wednesday and were not anticipating it because we dont want to be changed! I just LOVE Apopa! Its such an amazing area, we have found over 100 investigators in this change and many of them are progressing (they just have trouble coming to church cuz its at 8 in the morning haha). But Carlos, Rudys friend, accepted a baptismal date yesterday! Were at square one with him, hes never been a "spiritual" person he says and doesnt know how to pray but he wants to be better from the example hes seen in the Ruiz family, who he works for. Its so rewarding to see his subtle changes as he feels his faith grow.

Josue and Katerins wedding is this Friday! Im really excited because we pretty much planned it haha. Im really excited for them- Josue is reading the Book of Mormon and likes it.

Also Jose Martinez is a great investigator. He had a hard time leaving some vices but nows hes clean and a different person. He lives alone and is kinda a quiet guy, but he serves everyone! I love it because he doesnt do it to be recognized, its a quiet charity that he does. Hes a great example to me. Im learning alot from the people I teach-more than they are learning Im positive!

The ward had the RS anniversary yesterday and they made hermana henrie and i sing solos again for the program haha. They had a great meeting though. They talked alot about the origins of Relief Society with Emma Smith. Church and Family History is something Ive been really into lately. I invite all fo you to do it while you have the means. Its so great doing your own family history work. i did a little of it before I left on the mission and I am SO excited to work on it when I get back! It brings a new faith and strength in life to know that your ancestors are faithful in the gospel too.

uhm, so i was traumatized this week. every night when we get home a fat cockroach warmly welcomes us. we have a ritual now where i run in the house and jump on my chair while hermana henrie kills the cockroaches. the other night we did that but as were planning another showed up on the ceiling while hermana henrie was in the kitchen. i started freaking out and told her to come save me. right then im pretty sure the cucaracha heard my thoughts of wanting it to be killed and it flew over my head! it was so scary im pretty sure it was trying to come after me! i ran into the bedroom while hermana henrie tried killing it. when we finally squished it, it exploded! the head was on one side of the room and the body on the other and it was still moving! curiosity got the best of me and i came out to look. bad idea. never again. scarred for life. it brings me back to my BYU Hawaii dorm days. What a nightmare.

Anywho, all is well in Zion! Pray for me that I dont have changes this week, Im not ready!

I AM BOOK 3/24/14

twas a good week! we are finding some great people who are really searching for the truth and they have great questions. it makes teaching way more fun! im excited because tonight were having family night with the ruiz family (members) and the melendez family (investigators) and were gonna watch the restoration video. this is JUST what they need!

also were gonna teach Rudy Ruizs friend Carlos tonight who has come to church a few times to activities and is open to learning more. yesterday was a great day, except it was a little difficult to teach. all the houses are really close together and its easy to hear through the walls. welp, yesterday happened to be a very important soccer gameday between Barcelona and Madrid and the whole world was watching. As we passed the houses it sounded like surround sound because every tv was on the same channel. we had a couple lessons in this one pasaje with this woman that was SHRIEKING at the tv next door to us and whenever there was a moment with the spirit, there would suddenly be fireworks set off that sounded like bombs cuz they were so close. it was interesting to teach in that environment! not to mention it is soooo hot lately. my watch tan is ridiculous ha

Okay I have some funny stories this week

1- were teaching an english class and its so fun! each class someone always says something funny. for example, we were practicing the verb "i am" and nouns and this one "student" slash less active Saul said in an arnold shwarzewhatever voice "I AM BOOK" that made me almost cry, after. i would never laugh with them because they wouldnt want to learn and that would just be mean but after i just had to, i love his accent. also, we went on a scavenger hunt using prepositions and i felt like Dora the Explorer. We go THROUGH the bridge, OVER the lake, and to the CASTLE! So funny. Also, they love the word fat. I just dont even know....but i love this class. almost 40 people come. i give props to all the teachers out there! its tiring

2- on the bus the other day hermana henrie was in exchanges and started contacting the woman next to her. she was with hermana dumay, who told her after that a man got up on the bus and started preaching. then he pointed to hermana henrie and called her a false prophet. she didnt even notice but everyone was looking at her. at the end, she got the address of the woman and then hermana dumay told her what happened on the bus haha

3- i met a dog this week named Nicki. everytime we visit this family they seem to call their dog a million times and its really awkward for me. the dog and i have a connection, Nicki is always laying at my feet and they all think its cute. little do they know...

4- i found Adrienne Petersons latina twin! the stake presidents wife went out with us to visit yesterday and she is a spitting image of Adrienne. they look alike, talk alike, act alike, and are both the stake presidents wife. it was way wierd!

Mom told me Kayla sang yesterday at church. Coincidentally, i did too! knowing heavenly father and his humor, im sure we were singing at the exact same time! like mom said, music really does bring the spirit. we sang jospeh smiths first prayer/la oracion del profeta (its the same song just different names) half in english, half in spanish. hermana henrie is great at harmonizing so she sang alto with me. the members loved it! the rs pres said she was crying. im grateful to have talents to share on the mission with the same purpose as teaching, to strengthen others faith in Christ. thats why im here, and i am loving every second of it.
